Quarterly speakers’ forum designed to help businesses, nonprofits maximize potential
OARC, the Ogontz Avenue Revitalization Corporation, will kick off the New Year with a newly created Empowerment Series speakers’ forum for Northwest Philadelphia businesses and community organizations. The first installment will feature Philadelphia Tribune Publisher Robert Bogle, on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 6:00pm.
The Empowerment Series, the first event of its kind geared to the city’s Northwest communities, was established to provide local businesses and community groups with access to resources and expertise that will help them build capacity. OARC will present speakers from various fields as part of the quarterly series – including finance, government, fundraising and advertising.
“The Empowerment Series will enable businesses, small to large, to come together and discuss common issues that impact what they do and reach out to others in a variety of fields who may have credible advice for them,” said Erika L. Griffin, Interim Director of Community and Government Affairs.
Bogle has worked in every department of The Philadelphia Tribune during his 39-year career at the newspaper and took the top position in 1989. He will speak about “The Keys to Sustaining Your Small Business in a Wavering Economy.”
The first session of the Empowerment series will be held at the H&H CDC banquet hall, 2036 East Haines Street. To register for the series, please contact Erica Chase at 215-754-0014 by January 12, 2010.
