Impact Services Seeking Community Outreach Organizer
Community Outreach Organizer: 40 hours a week
A full-time community organizer will be hired to support the K&A Comemrcial Corridor Revitalization efforts. The Community organizer’s main focus will be to foster relationships with the local businesses and establish a direct line of communication between them and the K&A Business Association. The Community Organizer will have a permanent presence on the corridor and will be the “eyes and ears” of KABA.
Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish/English preferred)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Access (or ability to learn)
- Outgoing personality and a true passion for working with people
- Kensington resident a plus
- Previous community organizing experience a plus
- Ability to work individually as well as with others
- Good communicator
Duties
- Conduct broad outreach efforts to businesses on K&A Corridor
- Building one-on-one relationships with business owners/operators, educating them about the K&A Business Association
- Work with corridor manager to outline and implement a community organizing strategy
- Conduct surveys
- Identify businesses that need assistance
- Recruit new members for KABA and collect membership renewals
- Hand out fliers for KABA meetings, newsletters and any other promotional materials.
- Input information on databases/surveymonkey
- Keep information on vacancies and new openings/closings current
- Walk the corridor on a weekly basis
- Periodic meetings with Corridor Manager and Director to go over progress and strategies
