HUD Launches New Quarterly Research Publication "Evidence Matters"
Evidence Matters is a new publication from HUD's Office of Policy Development and Research that highlights the policy-relevant research that informs their work. The basic idea behind the quarterly is to showcase the actual data behind HUD's increased use of evidence-based policymaking. Though Evidence Matters is aimed in part at the policymakers, researchers, advocates, and industry members involved most closely with the research, it also hopes to help community members looking for solutions in neighborhoods hurt by the housing crisis. Each issue will have a theme, and the first is neighborhood revitalization, which Secretary Shaun Donovan says is an ideal launching topic because "its goals intersect directly with HUD's mission -- to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities, and quality affordable homes for all."
The first issue of Evidence Matters focuses on the HOPE VI and how it informs the Choice Neighborhoods Program.
