City Council Schedules September Hearing on New Zoning Code
City Council’s Committee of the Whole will hold a public hearing on the City’s proposed new zoning code on Wednesday, September 14th at 10:00 a.m. in City Council Chambers. Overall, the proposed new code is fair, transparent and predictable for residents, communities and developers, and we urge our members to attend this hearing.
This is a continuation of the initial hearing held on June 15th, following the May vote by the Zoning Code Commission to send the Preliminary Report for a new zoning code to City Council. While the timeline is tight given scheduling requirements, the goal is to obtain approval of a new code before the current Council session ends in December.
To demonstrate support for the new zoning code, the Next Great City Coalition is organizing a petition drive to collect 1,000 signatures in favor of fixing Philadelphia's zoning rules. They seek to collect these signatures before Council returns to session on September 8th. Add your signature today by clicking here.
